On June 24th 2010, A National Day of Action was 

declared in solidarity by Red Power United, Toronto 

Council Fire, The Defenders of the Land and the 

Indigenous Environmental Network to bring 

international awareness to the violations of the rights 

of  Native people in Canada by the Canadian 

Government.

Red Power United members participated with Native 

and Non-Native protesters as  part of a Native 

Resistance during the G20 protests based on the 

impact of G20 policies on economic, social, political 

and environmental issues affecting Native people and 

their communities.

On October 4, 2010, Sisters and Brothers in

Solidarity (SBIS) - following the call by Red 

Power United (RPU) - held a 200 person Walk 

for Justice through Toronto, "to honour our 

over *500 missing and murdered Native women 

on Turtle Island.

The letter to AFN Chief Shawn Atleo on behalf 

of Missing and Murdered Native women in 

Canada and their families that was presented at 

the Ontario Chiefs Conference by Sisters and 

Brothers in Solidarity and Red Power United 

was brought to Resolution and passed

Subject:

Government of Canada to re-establish its 

support for Sisters In Spirit. 

With the full support of the Ontario Chiefs and 

AFN Chief Shawn Atleo it resolved that they the 

Chiefs in Assembly will: 

1) Demand that the government of 
Canada 

re-establish its support for Native Womens 

Association of Canada (NWAC) in their effort to 

ensure that missing and murdered Aboriginal 

women are a National Priority.


2) Demand that the Government of Canada 

ensure that proper facilities within communites  

such as womens shelters and services are 

available for those people who are victims or 

have lost thier loved ones through acts of

violence. 

3) Demand that the Government of 
Canada 

establish an independent, public commission of 

inquiry into missing and murdered women.






On November 25th 2010 Red Power United in 

Solidarity with the Ontario Grassroots 

Committee take a stand for justice for families 

affected by CAS,  Child Welfare (60’s Scope) 

and Residential Schools across Ontario and 

Canada.
